This time, just 25 km closer, in Moravská Nová Ves, we tasted their white, rosé, and red wines on Friday, September 6, 2024, with a tour led by the owner, Ivana Tomanová. The very pleasant, almost family-like evening was complemented by summer weather and a relaxed atmosphere.
Although it was around 30 degrees Celsius on that September Friday, for several days in a row, most of our team traveled by train from Brno and Zlín to the south, to Moravská Nová Ves. We were welcomed by the owner, who, along with her father, takes care of not only the vineyard but also the guesthouse and wine cellar. First, we had dinner, and then we visited the vineyard 'behind the house,' where Ivana explained a bit about the cultivation and harvesting of grapes. This was followed by a tasting of 13 samples of mainly white, rosé, and red wines, and an interesting discussion about the Georgian method of wine production in qvevri vessels. This is a winemaking method that is 8,000 years old, where crushed fruit is placed in these clay vessels and buried in the ground after vigorous fermentation. It used to be customary to bury a qvevri at the birth of a child and dig it up at their wedding. In the evening, we returned to the guesthouse, where we enjoyed excellent platters with local delicacies. Once again, thank you, and we definitely recommend visiting the Tomanovi winery!
